Just a quick note, before bed, to say “thank you” to those of you who have stopped by to follow, like or who have simply taken the time to read some of my poetry. It’s so great to look at the stats and see which parts of the world you’re from. I’m in Australia as you know but as well as Australia, I’ve had visitors from India, Canada and South Africa. Wherever in the world we might live, it’s so nice to think that we have our love for poetry in common. Cheers and goodnight all, Jennabellatrix.
Yes, that’s right, how others feel about you is their problem. In other words, stop worrying so much about what others think about you. Be yourself, regardless. Some people will like you and some won’t. You can’t control that but there is something you can control… the way you react to it. The most important thing is just to be true to who you really are. Cheers, Jennabellatrix.
Written in the early hours of the morning and originally posted on Instagram. I actually posted another image with the poem originally because it was so late and I was so excited to get it finished.
I hope the poem speaks to you in the way I intended. It makes me a little sad but I’m really happy I wrote it. Cheers, Jennabellatrix.
Isn’t it fun to look through old photos? Sometimes, a single photo can be so special to us and all the more so as it ages. We can get quite sentimental about an old photo and hold it in our hand and never get tired of looking at it no matter how worn and torn it becomes.
Nowadays, we store our memories on a computer or on a phone…lovely, crisp, clean images with perhaps the odd filter added. We may have taken the same photo many times over to get the best one. Beautiful, yes, but a lot less fun. Are we really ever as attached to these photos? They’re kind of disposable as trying to get the perfect has replaced seeing life as it really is or was.
Anyway, enough from me. Cheers, Jennabellatrix.
Taking advantage of Throwback Thursday to post one of my older poems. (Well, it’s Thursday still somewhere in the world…after midnight here now). This one is a little Nonsense Poem about me…it might explain a few things. Cheers, Jennabellatrix.
Somewhat lighthearted but many a true word is spoken in jest. I guess the fact is that we teach people how to treat us so, by all means, be kind, be good, be compassionate but there is a line and when someone crosses that line, it’s time to stand up for yourself and ask to be treated with the respect and dignity you deserve.
Peace out, Jennabellatrix.
The flower in the photo is a Hemerocalis (Orange Daylily). The name Hemerocallis comes from the Greek words ἡμέρα (hēmera) “day” and καλός (kalos) “beautiful” and, as the dad in the ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ movie would say: “there you go!”
Thank you to my friend Debralyn (@little_toque) on Instagram for sharing her photo with me. Cheers, Jennabellatrix.
